Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Citolex ("the app") is a speed-reading and text-to-speech app. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it — in short: nothing leaves your device.

What Citolex does on your device

What Citolex does not do

Text-to-speech

When you use read-aloud, Citolex uses your device's built-in on-device speech synthesis (Apple's AVSpeechSynthesizer). This happens entirely on-device and is not sent anywhere.

Optional URL fetch

If you choose to paste a web link for Citolex to fetch an article from, your device will make a direct request to that web address to retrieve the page content, the same way a web browser would. Citolex does not route this through any server of its own, and does not log or store which links you fetch.

Sharing text from other apps

If you use the "Read in Citolex" share option from another app (like Safari or Notes), the shared text is passed directly to Citolex on your device and is not transmitted anywhere else.

Children's privacy

Citolex does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
